OVERALL EDITOR'S RATING:
What It Is

The L.O.L. Surprise! Winter Disco Chalet dollhouse is the coolest hang-out for L.O.L. Surprise! dolls. This 2.85-foot tall and 3-foot wide dollhouse comes with three exclusive L.O.L. Surprise! dolls and more than 95 surprises. And in true L.O.L. fashion, kids get to unbox it all.

But first, you have to assemble the dollhouse. Once that's put together, you'll have space for everything you unbox. Three floors of space, to be exact, with six rooms and two outdoor hang-out areas. There's a cozy living room on the first floor and a disco next door. On the second floor, there's a combination bathroom and sauna on one side and a bedroom on the other. The top floor is a cafe with a fold-out rooftop patio.

Chill out on the light-up ice rink. You can really fill this with water and freeze it for a realistic ice skating experience. Or warm up in the hot tub, which can also be filled with water for activating color-change features and other water surprises with the dolls.

There's also a working ski lift that will take dolls from the top floor to the bottom with just a gentle nudge from you.

And the three-story chimney will blow snow, or rather snow foam beads. You get four big bags of those, and all you need to do is pour some into the bin next to the chimney and turn the chimney on.

Decorate the chalet with the 15-feet of twinkle lights. Clips are included to keep the lights secure around the dollhouse. And for more lights, the pink railing will glow when you turn it on.

Fill up the empty rooms with furniture and fun accessories. These are packaged up inside the Snow Bus as luggage, so you'll need to unpack them and open them up. Inside one box is the exclusive Ice Ice Family: Ice Ice Boi Boi, Ice Ice B.B., and Ice Ice Husky. Inside other luggage boxes, you'll find tables, chairs, a light-up fireplace, a toilet that makes flushing sounds, pillows, hanging lights, ice skates for the dolls, and a staircase that can be used inside the chalet or as a slide into the hot tub.

And if you turn the whole thing around, you get a glimpse of the mountain tops behind a storefront scene with cat cafe, movie theater, hair salon, and furniture store.

Is It Fun?

This definitely has a lot of space for kids to play and display their L.O.L. Surprise! doll collections. It will be so cool for fans to add three new dolls to their collections and unbox so many fun surprises. As always, everything is done in a clever way, with the Snow Bus packaging and the luggage blind boxes. The lights and water features all enhance the imaginative play, creating a great space for kids to play out all sorts of winter vacation scenes with their L.O.L. dolls.

The only downside is the snow feature. Our chimney got clogged with snow foam beads on the first try, even when we followed the instructions to not overfill it. If you want to loosen the jam, you'll need to use Air in a Can to blow out the clumps. When the chimney does work, the snow beads go everywhere and are hard to clean up.

Who It’s For

The L.O.L. Surprise! Winter Disco Chalet is for L.O.L. fans ages 3 and up.

What To Be Aware Of

Assembly is required, and it was fairly easy to do. For some reason, the instructions start with things you have to do after the house has already been assembled. So skip that page until later. Then, you'll need a screwdriver and possibly two people for assembly. Most of the instructions were easy to follow. There are no instructions for how to attach the lights. We looked at the picture on the box for guidance.

Fifteen button cell batteries are included to power some of the accessories, but you'll still need three AAA batteries and six AA batteries for some of the other features.

The chimney easily gets jammed with the snow foam beads. The instructions say not to overfill it, but even when we poured in a small amount of the beads, the chimney failed to blow any of them out. This happens because the foam beads have a lot of static. You can put dryer sheets inside the bags of snow beads and let it sit for 24 hours, or if you already have a jam, use something like Air In A Can to blow out the clumps.

If your chimney does blow out the snow beads, it will be messy, and you'll need to make sure those get picked up, which can be difficult.

Parts of this can accommodate the L.O.L. Surprise! OMG dolls, which are sold separately.
