Dragon's Revenge Thrill Coaster Review (K'NEX)

Dragon's Revenge Thrill Coaster
What It Is

Hang on tight for a daring and thrilling coaster ride that you get to build yourself. The Dragon's Revenge Thrill Coaster includes 578 pieces for building a motorized coaster with dragon accessory that flaps its wings. Along with the K'NEX rods and connectors, there are also plastic decoration features that turn the coaster track into a brick castle. And for even more excitement, the coaster car lights up as it speeds around the track.

Watch the coaster car go up the track and see if it can make it past the dragon's flapping wings. This isn't really an obstacle for the car. The car is going to make it past the dragon no matter what. But the dragon's wings do randomly flap, so there is an element of surprise that could create pretend play for kids. Once the car speeds by the dragon, it curves around the castle tower, through the loop, down through the castle gate, and back up to do it all over again. The motor does have a forward switch and backward switch to change the direction of the moving track.

Is It Fun?

With its castle deco and flying dragon, this coaster has a really awesome look. And it works! What makes this coaster different from other K'NEX coasters is the dragon and castle design, adding a little more creative play instead of just watching the car go around and around. Kids who like riding roller coasters in real life will think it's really cool to build one of their own.

Who It’s For

The Dragon's Revenge Thrill Coaster is for ages 7 and up.

What To Be Aware Of

It's going to take about an hour and 45 minutes to assemble this.

The set includes three button cell batteries for the light-up coaster car, but you'll also need two AA batteries for the motor.

When the dragon moves, it sometimes makes a loud clicking sound. It's a little concerning because it sounds like the set is breaking, but it usually stops on its own without the user needing to adjust the pieces.

A Pac-Man Coaster set is also available and sold separately.
