Star Wars The Rise of Skywalker Collectible Figures Review (Hasbro)

Star Wars The Rise of Skywalker Collectible Figures
What It Is

The Vintage Collection continues a line which hearkens back to the original Star Wars figure collection, right down to the 3 and 3/4th scale of the figures and the Kenner logo on the blister card packaging. This assortment contains classic characters Boba Fett, Chewbacca, R2-D2, an Imperial Stormtrooper, and fresh-faced Luke Skywalker in his X-Wing Pilot gear from the original film; it also has "Rise of Skywalker" additions such as Zorii Bliss, Poe Dameron, a Knight of Ren, a Sith Jet Trooper, and Rey in her new costume. While definitely able to be played with, these are definitely meant more as showcase pieces to be mounted to a wall or in a glass display case. The figures are at a high level of flexibility, so even more adult collectors can have fun posing their new addition with the rest of the collection. Accessories range from standard blasters to lightsabers, to removable helmets, which look particularly cool on Luke and Poe. They also feature holes on the feet to put them on stands if they're going in a collection.

The Black Series runs a broader gamut as characters in this year's set include Cal Kestis and the Second Sister Inquisitor from the upcoming video game "Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order", The Mandalorian from the upcoming Disney+ TV series, and the Rise of Skywalker editions of Rey (bundled with D-0), Supreme Leader Kylo Ren, a Sith Trooper, a First Order Stormtrooper, and an Offworld Jawa. As usual, these figures are high-end from box to build, featuring a very robust set of joints and accessories. Clothing pieces such as Kylo's cape features a pleather-like texture to simulate a thicker leather, and the Jawa's robe is of a cloth material. Unfortunately, this doesn't extend to characters like Rey, so it's a very selective premium touch on an otherwise incredibly impressive line.

Is It Fun?

Yes; both lines feature solid assortments that should make collectors of all ages happy, especially those who can't wait for the upcoming video game and streaming service installments to the Star Wars universe!
