Rideamals Josie Play & Ride Unicorn Review (KidTrax)

Rideamals Josie Play & Ride Unicorn
What It Is

Last year, kids got to experience what owning their own pony was like with the Rideamals Scout. But this year, there's a new animal to add to the stable. Now kids can pretend to own and ride their very own unicorn with Rideamals Josie Play & Ride Unicorn. It has more than 100 unique sounds and movements, plus a light-up unicorn horn.

It is a riding toy, so kids can ride Josie with two forward speed settings (3.5 miles per hour for trot and 4 miles per hour for gallop) and one backward speed (3.5 miles per hour). Buttons on the reins allow kids to control the speed and accelerate or stop the unicorn. Rotate the reins in front of Josie to take the unicorn for a walk instead of a ride.

Josie will also respond to touch thanks to interactive sensors on its head, nose, mouth, and chest. And the grooming brush, cupcake, and flower all give kids more ways to interact with Josie. Brush Josie's multi-colored hair for happy noises. Feed Josie the cupcake for eating sounds. (You'll have to split the cupcake in half, but don't worry. It's designed for that.) There's also a flower accessory that Josie can eat. The instructions were not clear if it did anything else. If you push Josie's light-up heart and stand in front of her, you and Josie can dance to a special riding song.

There is a saddlebag on the back of Josie where all of the accessories can be stored.

Is It Fun?

Just like the original Rideamals, this will inspire a lot of nurturing pretend pet play, especially for kids who love unicorns. There are different ways to play with Josie, making it more than just a basic ride-on. The interactivity and realistic movements and sounds enhance the imaginative play.

Who It’s For

Josie is for ages 3 to 7 with a maximum weight limit of 70 pounds.

What To Be Aware Of

Josie runs on a rechargeable 12V battery. It takes 10 hours to get a full charge, and an AC adapter is included for recharging. Do not charge the battery for more than 24 hours.

The toy can move one unicorn length forward and backward during play, so you'll want to make sure you have plenty of play space.
