What It Is
The gates to Arendelle are open again with the Disney Frozen Ultimate Arendelle Castle. Inspired by Disney's Frozen 2, this large five-foot by four-foot castle features four floors with seven rooms and 14 accessories for playing out scenes from the movie.
Swing open the icy gates to reveal a first floor with three rooms. In the kitchen, there's a pretend stovetop, oven, and sink accessory, along with a dining room table and one chair. The plates and silverware are printed on the table so there are no small parts to lose, and in the middle of a table is a spinning platter. It's a turkey dinner to start, but then it rotates to reveal a dessert tray.
In the middle of the first floor is a throne room, complete with chair for a doll to sit in and a pull-out carpet. Behind this are two doors that open and close.
And the third bottom floor room is the music room with a piano and stool.
The second floor has two bedrooms, one for Anna and one for Elsa. Each room includes a bed with fabric bedspread and gauzy canopy. There's also a vanity that can be set up in either bedroom or in the room between the two bedrooms.
The third floor features a fireplace and lots of family photos hanging on the wall. There is a sofa accessory for the dolls to lounge on.
And at the very top is Olaf's lookout tower.
How do you get the dolls from floor to floor? With the kid-powered elevator. It has a doll clip for holding a doll, and all you do is use two hands to slide the platform up or down. If you press the button underneath the platform, you'll activate a 30-second light show inspired by the Northern Lights.
And the back of the box features a color-by-number scene that kids can work on while mom and dad assemble the playset.
Is It Fun?
Frozen fans will definitely like the large size of this castle. They can stand up and play, and there's lots of space for multiple kids to play together. Of course, the large size does mean it will take up space in your playroom, so make sure you've got the room. The light show adds a magical touch to the imaginative play, but some kids might wish that it played some music along with the lights. (Although, parents will probably be happy to have a Frozen toy that doesn't play "Let It Go".) The playset doesn't come with any dolls, but Frozen fans probably already have some dolls at home that they can use or they'll be wanting to collect Hasbro's new Frozen 2 dolls, sold separately.
Who It’s For
The Ultimate Arendelle Castle is for ages 3 and up. Frozen fans will enjoy the large size of the playset, giving them lots of space to play out imaginative adventures.
What To Be Aware Of
Adult assembly is required. It took us one hour and 30 minutes to assemble, and the instructions were not always clear. There are some decorative panels that slide into the castle, and those were hard to insert.
Three AAA batteries are required but not included.
No dolls are included. Frozen 2 dolls are sold separately.
