OVERALL EDITOR'S RATING:
What It Is

Don't cry! There are new Cry Babies baby dolls to collect and care for. Dressed up as a ladybug in a soft pink-and-black hooded onesie is Lady. And wearing a soft pink flamingo hooded onesie is Fancy. Each doll, sold separately, has a pacifier attached to their onesie. This keeps the pacifier from getting lost and also keeps it handy so that kids can place the pacifier in the doll's mouth to stop the crying. And yes, these dolls do cry real tears. A parent will need to help fill the back of the doll's head with water (distilled water is recommended) and then press the button on the back of the doll's head before water will drip from the doll's eyes. If the pacifier isn't in the doll's mouth, the doll will cry with real tears and sound effects. Give the doll her pacifier and she'll stop crying and make happy sounds. You can also lay the doll on its back to hear happy and relaxed sounds.

Both of the doll's have removable onesies for easy cleaning and mix-and-match fashion play with other Cry Babies dolls. The dolls also have moving arms and legs.

Is It Fun?

For kids who want to do everything just like mom and dad, caring for a crying baby doll provides the sort of realistic "parent" experience they're looking for. Kids will think it's neat that the doll cries real tears, even if it does get water all over the place, and the realistic sound effects (both happy and sad) bring the doll to life and enhance the imaginative play experience. This will engage kids in a nurturing play pattern.

Who It’s For

These Cry Babies dolls are for ages 18 months and up. We think caring for these crying dolls will be more fun (and less confusing) for older children, ages 3 and up.

What To Be Aware Of

Two AAA batteries are included for the in-store try-me features. We recommend replacing them before you play for best results.

Because this toy involves water, make sure kids are playing in an area where it's okay for things to get wet.
