Treasure Seekers Pirate Ship Review (VTech)

Treasure Seekers Pirate Ship
What It Is

Set sail for imagination with the Treasure Seekers Pirate Ship. This pirate ship playset plays more than 180 songs, melodies, sounds, and phrases to engage preschoolers in pretend play, help them with fine motor skills, and introduce them to numbers. The ship also unfolds for expanded play.

Little kids can pull the ship along by its pull string or sit and play. There are three modes of play to choose from: Explore mode, Roleplay mode, and Music & Songs mode. In either mode, you can activate the features by pressing the three light-up buttons. You'll hear phrases about colors and objects, play pirate roleplay games, and hear music. You can also insert and launch the cannonball from the cannon to hear fun sounds.

And the pirate ship comes with two character figures, one of Captain Monty and one of Sailor Stanley. If you place the figures on the recognition point on the front deck of the ship, you'll get fun character responses.

Open up the ship to reveal a treasure island interior. There's space for the spinning Octopus figure to sit and spin on the beach. The character figures can go up and down on the seesaw. Pull out the plank and release the cannonball down the stairs and into a character figure at the bottom or rolling down onto the stony path. There's also an opening and closing treasure chest. You still get all the same interactive sounds, phrases, and music in this mode.

Is It Fun?

There's a lot for kids to explore on this toy pirate ship. The vast amount of play possibilities even without the sounds and lights is enough to keep kids engaged in hours of pretend play. But when you add in the music, phrases, and more, the imaginative play becomes enhanced. This exposes kids to early learning concepts and makes learning fun.
