Sesame Street Love to Hug Elmo Review (Hasbro)

Sesame Street Love to Hug Elmo
What It Is

It's been 50 years since the debut of Sesame Street, and to celebrate the classic show's milestone birthday, Hasbro is releasing a brand new Elmo toy that itself is sort of an update of the classic Tickle Me Elmo from more than 20 years ago. Love to Hug Elmo is all about hugs. He can talk to kids in English or Spanish, depending on what language mode you've got him switched to. When Elmo is turned on, hold him in an upright position and press his belly. His arms will rise up, and he'll talk and giggle. He might even ask for a hug. As you continue to hug Elmo, you'll hear different responses and songs.

Is It Fun?

This will certainly be fun for young kids who are Elmo fans, allowing them to cuddle up and interact with a favorite character. It's easy for small hands to activate the hugging feature, but it did take several tummy squeezes before we heard any songs and more of a variety in the responses.

Who It’s For

Love to Hug Elmo is for ages 18 months to 4 years. Kids who love the furry red monster from watching Sesame Street will enjoy giving their favorite character lots of hugs.

What To Be Aware Of

The toy includes two AA batteries for the in-store try-me features, so Hasbro recommends replacing them before you play for best results.

It took awhile of playing before we heard Elmo do anything besides say, "Give Elmo a hug! Give Elmo a kiss!" So if you don't hear the other phrases and songs, give it some time.
