It's humans versus rocks literally in the trivia game Are You Dumber Than a Box of Rocks? But how can rocks be playing a game? Here's how. There's a blank rock piece and a human pawn that act as movers along the very short gameboard. The other two rock pieces have the number one marked on them. Those get placed inside the game box. One player will be the reader, in charge of moving the blank rock on the board, and the other player (or players) will be the human pawn, answering the trivia questions. The reader reads a question, such as "How many hits by the pop music sensation ABBA reached #1 on the US Billboard charts?" The other player has to give a numerical answer, either 0, 1, or 2. All questions will be answered with one of those three numbers. Then, the reader shakes the box of rocks and opens the lid. The rocks' answer is the total of the white marks shown. If the humans answered correctly, the human pawn moves one space on the game board. But if the rocks got it right, the reader moves the rock one space forward. The first to reach the finish line wins.
Yes, it's kind of silly to play a game against rocks, but that adds an element of randomness. Just think of it as trivia night but instead of playing against human teams, you're playing against rocks. There's also the challenge of seeing how much you know about a variety of topics. If you like trivia games, this one is easy to learn and would make a nice addition to your next game night.
