Eating an ice cream cone with two, three, or four scoops sounds really good - until the scoops fall off! That's what you're trying to avoid in the game Oops Scoops. Players take turns stacking scoops on "Oops" the ice cream cone. But Oops vibrates while you play, so the taller the stack, the wobblier it gets. If you cause the tower to fall, you're out.
There's one Oops ice cream cone and one scooper. You can either pass Oops from player to player to take turns (a more challenging way to play) or place Oops in the ice cream stand and pass the scooper (an easier way to play). Before you turn on Oops and start playing, he needs a base scoop. The blue scoop with the narrow opening is easier, but you can also choose the blue scoop with a wide opening for more of a challenge.
Then, turn on the ice cream cone and start scooping. The scooper doubles as a spinner, and the spinner tells you what to do on your turn. You may skip a turn, place one scoop, or place two scoops. Keep passing until one player causes the stack to topple. The remaining players continue on until there is only one player left. (Maybe that player could celebrate with some real ice cream.)
This is a silly game of skill. We like that there are two ways to play to give younger kids a chance at experiencing stacking success, and then as kids get comfortable with how to play, you can progress to the more advanced way. Even though you don't want the scoops to fall, it's entertaining when they do. And you never know when it's going to happen, so the game has a nice element of surprise.
The game is for two to four players ages 4 and up.
You'll need two AAA batteries, which are not included.
