UNO Marvel Review (Mattel)

UNO Marvel
What It Is

Let's start off with the Captain Marvel UNO set. There are a total of 112 cards, which include the classic blue, green, yellow and red cards. Then there are specialty cards such as Draw 8, Reverse, Skip, Wild Cards, and Draw Four, cards. In this version, they've also added 4 Wild Cosmic Crush cards. All the cards feature action-packed Captain Marvel images.

The gameplay starts the same as the original, and the person to the left of the dealer starts the play. On your turn, you must match a card from your hand to the card on the top of the discard pile. If you don't have a card that matches the one on the discard pile, you must take a card from the draw pile. If you get one of the action cards, play by its rules, which are provided to you in the guide.

The Wild Cosmic Crush card is where things get a bit more interesting. With this card, you take all the cards in your hand and put them at the bottom of the draw pile in any order that you want. Then, take the same number of cards from the top of the draw pile to give yourself a new hand. This card also acts as a wild card, so the player who played it gets to choose a color that resumes play. Then continue with the game.

That's the only difference with this version of Uno. Of course, you know, in order to win you have to yell out "UNO" when you're down to the last card in your hand.

As for the UNO Marvel Avenger's deck, you get the same 112 cards and classic specialty cards in this set. Plus you get the Wild Infinity Gauntlet card. All the cards feature images of the Avengers.

When the Wild Infinity Gauntlet card is picked, you get to choose any color card from your hand and lay it on top of the Infinity Gauntlet card. All players who have a card of this color in their hand must draw two cards from the draw pile. This card is also a wild card, so you choose the color that resumes play.

Is It Fun?

Both decks, Marvel's Avengers and Captain Marvel, are fun and keeps people on their toes since you'll have to strategize what cards to save and put down, spicing things up! It's a 2 to 10 player game so you can enjoy the game in a small group or large group setting. The images on both decks bring nice details from the films for fans.

Who It’s For

This is a fun twist on the game UNO for fans of either Marvel's Avengers or Captain Marvel. It's geared for children ages 7 and up.

What To Be Aware Of

The packaging is a bit different than the original UNO- it's wider so the cards don't go in all at the same time. You'll have make two separate piles to put them back in the box. UNO is geared for children ages 7 and up, but even then, smaller children may have a hard time following the rules so parent supervision may be required.
