If you can draw the funniest images, then you'll succeed at the new game Sketchagrams. In this game, players compete to draw funny images using the caption and hashtag cards given. If your drawing is picked as the best, you earn a "like" token. And the player with the most tokens at the end of the game wins.
Each player gets four "like" tokens, a pencil, and four pieces of paper. The game will be played in four rounds. One player flips over a caption card and two hashtag cards. Captions could be "It's not what you think!" or "First world problems", while hashtags could be "#yolo", "#teamwork", "#taco", or "#momlife".
Once the cards are flipped, players take their paper pads and pencils and draw the funniest picture they can using the cards as inspiration. You only have 45 seconds. When time is up, one player collects the drawings face-down and shuffles them up before revealing them one at a time. Artists can defend their drawings, if they choose to, although that sort of defeats the purpose of the drawings being turned in anonymously. Then players use their "like" tokens to vote for their favorite picture. You can't vote for your own drawing, and you can only vote once. When voting ends, flip over any tokens on your drawing and add the points shown to your score. Play the same way for three more rounds, and whoever has the most points wins.
This combines the fun of drawing games, such as Pictionary, with the excitement of voting games, such as Apples to Apples. If you've got players who are social media-inclined, then they'll be the players who understand this game's inspiration and will probably have the most fun playing.
It is geared more toward older players because while some of the card content isn't really that bad, the potential for people to draw inappropriate things is high. And that's all part of the fun! Get creative and, as one of the captions says, "Go big or go home".
The game is for three to six players ages 14 and up.
The game includes 76 caption cards, 148 hashtag cards, 36 "like" tokens, six paper pads, and six pencils. There are some blank cards so you can add your own captions or hashtags.
You'll need to provide your own 45-second timer.
