Whether at home or in the classroom, the Preschool Clock helps preschoolers "tell time". Instead of numbers on this clock, there are glow-in-the-dark animal icons that go around a ring of colors. The method of teaching the concept of time can be done in three different ways. Instead of saying, "It's bedtime in 20 minutes," parents say, "It's bedtime when the big hand reaches the rabbit." Instead of saying, "We're going to the playground in two hours," parents say, "We're going to the playground when the small hand touches the purple." And instead of saying, "Your friends are coming over for a playdate at 4:30," parents say, "Your friends are coming over for a playdate when the small hand is on the pink and the big hand touches the frog." A little star counts off the seconds, making it easier for kids to track and ensuring they don't get it confused with the hours and minutes. This is also a way to help kids understand the clockwise rotation of the hands. This 12-inch metal frame wall clock features silent non-ticking quartz movement.
The Preschool Clock also includes a play clock and 46 activity and number stickers. Use the activity stickers on either of the clocks to personalize them to your daily routines, such as brushing teeth, going to the doctor, or lunchtime. Add the number stickers when kids are comfortable with counting.
Because little kids really don't understand what "10 minutes" means, the visual aspect of the Preschool Clock is really great. Kids will be excited to keep track of time with the fun animals and colors, turning this into a useful tool for keeping with a daily routine, transitioning between activities, taking turns, and more.
The Preschool Clock is for ages 3 and up.
The clock runs on one AA battery, which is included.
A Preschool Watch is also available for preschoolers to wear.
