This is Holiday Fluxx, a holiday themed version of the classic card game, Fluxx from Looney Labs.
The gameplay remains the same as the original in this version only now all the cards, combinations you can make, and actions you can do are themed around the holidays: Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, Thanksgiving, and New Years.
Game Set-Up: Cards are shuffled and each player begins the game with three cards in his/her hand. Play moves clockwise.
How to Play:If you are unfamiliar with Fluxx, the game can seem a bit intimidating at first but it's actually really simple. Players start the game by following the Basic Rules Card on their turn: pick a card, play a card.
On your turn there are various cards you can play, depending on what's in your hand. Here's an overview of how each of these cards works:
There are also three Surprise Cards in the deck, which allows you to thwart the plans/and potential winning moves of other players---hold onto these cards!
Winning: The first player to gather the Keepers that correspond to the Goal in play wins.
Now if you are unfamiliar with Fluxx, the game can seem a bit intimidating at first but it's actually really simple and addictively fun. With goals changing on a whim and action cards, rule cards, and surprise cards constantly shaking up the gameplay, Fluxx is an aptly named game that keeps things interesting. It's simple to get started, making it easy for tabletop players at any level to jump in and start playing. But more so it's great for the depth and strategy that comes out as new rules and actions are introduced throughout the game.
Holiday Fluxx is for ages 8 and up. The holiday theme added onto this classic card game makes it an easy go-to for seasonal gatherings with friends and family with gameplay lasting anywhere from 10 minutes on up depending on how competitive your fellow players get. We also like that it isn't a holiday-specific game and really does incorporate many different holiday and seasonal celebrations so it can work as a holiday gift for many players.
Fluxx can also be played with as little as two players and up to 8 players. We play tested it with the minimum as well as the max and the gameplay remained the same, without having to deal extra cards or adjust rules.
