OVERALL EDITOR'S RATING:
What It Is

Kids can learn to paint like a real artist with the Learn to Watercolor Set, part of Faber-Castell's Young Artist series. This gives kids all the tools they need plus tips and techniques to get started. And it's all stored in a reusable zippered bag.

There are four different painting tools, including two paintbrushes, a squeezable water brush, and a white crayon. For the actual painting, you get 12 vibrant watercolors. You also get a cup for holding water and sticky putty for adhering your paper to the painting mat to help it dry flat. You also get to experiment with two types of paper: six sheets of a bumpy watercolor paper and six sheets of a smooth art paper.

Is It Fun?

This will be a fun way to introduce watercolor painting to creative kids. There's a lot to experiment with in this kit, from the different papers to the variety of painting techniques, and kids will have fun exploring different ways to use the paints and tools to make their masterpieces.
