Barbie The X Files Agent Dana Scully and Agent Fox Mulder Review (Mattel)

Barbie The X Files Agent Dana Scully and Agent Fox Mulder
What It Is

In celebration of the 25th anniversary of The X Files, the TV series that not only brought us an addictive dose of the paranormal but also gave us agents Dana Scully and Fox Mulder, Mattel has created the Barbie X Files dolls based on the characters.

Each of the dolls was sculpted to the likeness of Agents Mulder (David Duchovny) and Scully (Gillian Anderson). The dolls feature their signature looks from the show from their suits right down to their miniature FBI badges and IDs, accessories, and perfectly quaffed hairdos.

The Mattel team studied the actual costumes and referenced many images from the show to aid in the dolls' development and ensure accuracy.

In addition, these dolls are fully posable---perfect for display out of the packaging. The boxes they come packaged in feature info about the characters and show details.

As part of the Barbie Signature collection, these dolls each come with a stand for display as well as a certificate of authenticity.

Is It Fun?

For Barbie fans and collectors, this doll set in our opinion is a total upgrade from the 1998 X-Files Barbie gift set that Mattel previously put out. While that one featured Barbie and Ken simply dressed as Agent Mulder and Agent Scully, this one features the dolls sculpted to the perfect likeness of the actors: David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson.

Who It’s For

The Barbie X-Files dolls are going to appeal to a niche audience: fans of X-Files. Therefore, these dolls are geared solely toward collectors.

What To Be Aware Of

While not shown in this video, we actually think the dolls look best out of the box, where you can display them, adjust their hair slightly to better highlight that signature side swept bang on Scully and get a better view at the piercing eyes of Mulder, etc. Plus, you can pose them.

While we also have the dolls each sold separately here, they are also available as a gift set. If you are planning to keep the dolls in package, anyway, we think this may be the better option. After all, what's Mulder without Scully?
