OVERALL EDITOR'S RATING:
What It Is

Don't worry! No one murdered anybody, but your weekend in Vegas did get a little out of hand. Now in the game Clue: What Happened Last Night? Lost in Vegas, you've got to find the clues to find your lost friend Buddy before your plane leaves to take you home. This is an adults-only parody game of the classic board game that plays like the original but with a modern twist.

You've still got a colorful cast of characters: Jack Violet, Nathan Jade, Oliver Gold, Ava Carmine, Frieda Rose, and Chloe Cobalt. And you've got a gameboard filled with different locations: party bus, pool party, magic show, jail, tattoo parlor, wedding chapel, hospital, helicopter ride, and casino. But in this version, the three things you have to uncover are which character saw Buddy last, where did he or she leave Buddy, and what were they doing. Those actions include falling asleep, being a total mess, feeling sick, breakdancing, trying to fight everyone, and gettin' weird. You take turns rolling the dice and moving your character pawn from location to location on the gameboard, making bets about the who, what, and where. Other players will show you the relevant cards in their hands and you keep track of who has what on your scorepad until you're ready to go all in and make your final bet.

What ups the ante in this version is the clock that starts out at 9 a.m. After each round, the clock moves forward one hour. If the clock reaches 4 p.m. before anyone has successfully guessed, then all players write down their bets to find out if they solved the mystery or missed their flight trying.

You also have Mystery Cards in this version. You get to pick up and do what the card says if you roll a magnifying glass on your turn. With these cards you might get to reveal or take a card from a friend, or you might lose an hour on the clock.

Is It Fun?

If you like playing Clue, then you'll like this updated version. There are a lot of clever tweaks, such as the hotel room key card holder that holds the answer cards. Even though this has a "wild weekend in Vegas" feel to it, it's still the classic game of Clue, and it will make a fun addition to your next game night.
