The Knitting: Beanie Bun and Fingerless gloves kit from Make It Real is a craft kit that makes it easy for aspiring and beginner knit crafters to knit some cozy and cool accessories without much frustration.
The kit comes with everything you need to start crafting: two colors of acrylic yarn, 15 sparkle beads, a crochet hook, a large round loom, plastic needle, instructions, and a Dream Guide magazine. The Dream Guide magazine offers young crafters information on how these kinds of fun crafts, like crafting, can be translated into real-world careers when they grow up. It even includes info. on a real world designer.
So how exactly do you start creating with this kit? It's easy thanks to the helpful loom. When working with a loom, you simply loop the yarn around each of the loom's pegs. Then once you've circled the loom twice so that you have two rows on each peg, you'll use the included crochet hook to pull the bottom row over the top row and off the peg. You'll repeat this pattern until you start to see your knit accessory develop. One thing to note is that when making the hat, you will need to pay close attention when starting out; once the length reached roughly six centimeters (a handy ruler is included), you'll actually loop the bottom back on to create that the hat's rim. In addition, because this is a bun beanie, you won't need to close up the top of it as you would in a traditional knit hat. Instead you'll finish it with the hole on top to pull your bun through. You can top off your accessories with some added knit details such as the bow and beads.
Knit crafts are a great option for kids that want to create their own wintery accessories like hats, scarves, gloves, etc. Working with a loom, as you will in this kit, is also beneficial for beginners because it takes a lot of the guesswork and counting needed for regular knitting or crocheting out of the equation.
In addition to the ease-of-use of this kit, the actual materials you get are pretty durable high quality. As a personal antedote, we can't tell you how many times we've worked with a round loom and had the pegs slide out mid-project----that won't happen here.
The Knitting: Beanie Bun and Fingerless gloves kit is from Make it Real and it's for ages 8 and up. It will appeal to crafty kids looking to create their own accessories and give their winter look a personal touch. It can also be a good option for kids that want to create their own handmade gifts or simply get started learning to knit.
The nice thing about knitting , once you get into it is that it really is easy to do and yields some, as I said earlier, cool wearables. Overall we are big fans of this knit kit. It works really well but aside from that useability, the actual materials you get are really high quality. I can't tell you how many times I've worked with a loom and had the pegs slide out mid-project. With this one, that's not going to be an issue. So if you are looking for a knit project for your child or yourself, this is a great knit kit to get you started.
