Hatchimals Hatchibabies Review (Spin Master)

Hatchimals Hatchibabies
What It Is

It's time for another Hatchy Birthday in the world of Hatchimals with the new Hatchimals Hatchibabies. Unlike the original Hatchimals, these babies don't grow through different modes. You get baby Hatchimal cuteness forever! You'll either hatch a boy or a girl Ponette or Cheetree, but you won't know which one it is until you hatch the egg.

Hatching is just like with the original Hatchimals. You've got to rub, tap, tilt, and rock the egg to nurture it until it's ready to hatch. The eye color on the outside of the egg will let you know how your baby is feeling and what you should do to care for it. The only difference here is that you can place the egg on a flat surface and watch it wobble. Once you see rainbow eyes, it's hatching time. Hold the egg and tap it when necessary to encourage it to hatch. It will play "Hatchy Birthday" when it's done. Then you can remove the baby from the egg.

But that's not all you get to remove. There are five surprise accessories still inside the egg. Remove a secret message to read about your baby and place that on your adoption certificate. Then peel back the secret compartments to discover a bottle, a rattle, a cuddle buddy, and a brush. The bottle, cuddle buddy, and rattle interact with the baby when you hold them to the toy's mouth or chest.

You can reuse the egg base as a nest where your baby can play or rest. The compartments can store the accessories.

The Hatchibaby also has a variety of sensors so that it responds to your touch and motion. Following the colors of its eyes will let you know what your baby needs. You can also discover what your baby's secret trick is, make your baby repeat what you say, play peek-a-boo with your baby, play a Bouncy Baby freeze dance game, and play an Animal Colors game.

Is It Fun?

This is just a cute new extension to the Hatchimals lineup. You still get the fun surprise of finding out which cute creature is inside and the interactivity with the Hatchimal, but these are babies with a cute little wobbly look and fun accessories to help bring about more nurturing play.

Who It’s For

Hatchibabies are for ages 5 and up. This offers a new way to hatch and interact with cute Hatchimals.

What To Be Aware Of

This includes two AA batteries.

The Bouncy Baby and Animal Colors games were hard to play. For Bouncy Baby, we stopped when the music stopped, but it never seemed to be in time. And for Animal Colors, it was confusing to know where to tap the sensor for the right color. We can see this being frustrating for kids.
