OVERALL EDITOR'S RATING:
What It Is

Zoom in for more action and fun with the Hot Wheels Zoom In car. This die-cast Hot Wheels car is compatible with a GoPro HERO Session or HERO5 Session camera so that you can capture the ultimate action shot as your car races through your Hot Wheels track.

No special hacks necessary. Just lift up the lever and slide your GoPro in to secure it. Then send the black and shiny blue car down your Hot Wheels track.

The car features both the Hot Wheels and GoPro logos on the sides, along with metallic red rims on the wheels.

Is It Fun?

This is more of a camera-carrying vessel than it is a traditional Hot Wheels car. And that's going to be good news for kids (or adults) who have been rubber banding or duct taping their GoPros to their Hot Wheels cars to capture high-speed footage of stunts and races. This makes it easy to secure the camera, get the shot, and create your own Hot Wheels videos.

Of course, you must have a GoPro camera and it has to specifically be a GoPro HERO Session or HERO5 Session, so if you don't have one of those cameras, this is probably not going to be much fun for you.

You also need to know that this doesn't work with all Hot Wheels sets. Because of the width of the car and the weight of the camera, it will not work with boosters and launchers. It's also difficult to get the car to go through loops unless you use props from home to add stability to the track pieces. It's probably going to take some trial and error to get it right. If you're a Hot Wheels fan who is used to these types of hacks when creating your own Hot Wheels tracks, then this might not be a problem. But we can see this being frustrating for younger kids.

Who It’s For

The Hot Wheels Zoom In is for Hot Wheels fans ages 3 and up, and will be fun for kids (or adults) who own a GoPro HERO Session or HERO5 Session and who like creating Hot Wheels videos.

What To Be Aware Of

This is not for use with some Hot Wheels sets, according to Mattel. Due to the car's weight once the camera is added, it will not work with boosters or launchers. You'll probably need to add extra props to stabilize the track to withstand the extra weight from the car.

A GoPro HERO Session or HERO5 Session camera is sold separately.
