Free Play Magnatab and Glow-in-the-Dark Jumbo Magnatab Review (Kid O Toys)

Free Play Magnatab and Glow-in-the-Dark Jumbo Magnatab
What It Is

Use your imagination to draw shapes, letters and pictures by using the Magnatab drawing tablet toy for kids. The Magnatab uses a unique magnetized stylus for popping individual beads to the surface with an audible click revealing your creation.

Is It Fun?

This toy makes learning to draw feel more like child's play as it promotes creativity and discovery. Likewise, we like that the beads are completely self-contained and do not come out of the board no matter how much you shake the board.

Overall, this is very tactile play, and for kids ages 3 years and up, it can be quite satisfying to play with.

Who It’s For

The Magnatab is recommended for ages 3 and up. The Magnatab is an exceptional learning tool that provides a sensory-reinforced play that allows children to process information through their eyes, ears and fingertips.

PlayMonster suggests that this might be a good toy for children with special needs. We definitely see how the combination of tactile and auditory play could be very satisfying in that kind of situation. Depending on the child, the combination of focus and cause-and-effect play could provide a very positive experience.

What To Be Aware Of

Though we love how easy it is to erase the board, however, we found the pen not accurate as it pulls up multi beads at a time even undesired ones. If that happens, you can turn the stylus over to push any unwanted bead back into the unit, allowing players to fine tune their creations.

Many kids will like the reinforcing click as the beads move into place. For some it may be a little loud, particularly if you shake the board. However, that is not the way it's designed to be played with.
