Smart Wi-Fi Baby Monitor Review (Project Nursery)

Smart Wi-Fi Baby Monitor
What It Is

Today's parents are very tech-savvy, spending much of their time on their smartphones. So instead of the traditional camera and parent unit duo that so many baby monitors come with, the Project Nursery Wi-Fi Baby Monitor comes with just a camera that connects to a Project Nursery app via wi-fi and turns your smart device into the parent unit. This baby monitor also works with Amazon Alexa, allowing parents to control the camera with their Alexa-enabled speaker.

Once you have the camera set up, either on a flat surface or mounted to a wall using the included mounting tools, and the camera is synced with your smart device, you're ready to start keeping an eye on baby. The Project Nursery app has a variety of features, from panning and tilting the camera to recording video and taking photos. If you've set up multiple cameras, there's a multi-camera view option.

You can also insert a micro SD card into the camera for storing content, and that content can be accessed for viewing from within the app.

If you need two-way communication with your baby, just press the "speak" button and you can soothe baby without needing to go back into the nursery.

The camera can also play three lullabies, two nature sounds, and white noise to soothe your baby. You can choose which ones to play from the app's settings menu. The lullabies are Rockabye Baby! versions of "I Don't Want to Miss a Thing", "Holiday", and "Jolene".

And you can set up motion and sound notifications on your phone when the camera detects movement or sound from your baby, as well as a temperature alarm if your baby's room gets too hot or too cold.

There is also a night vision option to configure the camera's infrared light for viewing nighttime video.

If you have an Alexa-enabled speaker, you can enable Project Nursery from the Alexa app on your phone, and then you'll be able to tell Alexa to start playing music from the camera or get the temperature reading in your baby's room.

Why Is It Useful?

For parents who spend a lot of time on their smartphones or tablets, being able to use their smart device as the main parent unit will make a whole lot of sense. And the compatibility with Alexa will also be very convenient for families who use Alexa. So that's really what this baby monitor provides: the great features you would want from a baby monitor but with convenience for the tech-savvy parents.
