The Jurassic World Tyrannosaurus Rex Inflatable Costume from Rubies is a wearable, inflatable costume that lets kids (and adults) dress up like this top-of-the-food-chain dinosaur.
Viral videos, memes, and .gifs of T-Rex doing things, in this inflatable costume of course, have been floating around the web for the past year. Needless to say, this costume requires little to no introduction. But, we'll still give you a break down of how it works.
How to wear the costume:
Firstly, you'll need to step inside the costume. Attach the included battery pack to the interior fan of the costume and clip the battery pack to your belt, waistband, or where ever is comfortable for wear. Next, zip up the costume. You'll need to zip up the costume before you turn the fan on to inflate, in order to hold the air in. Some assistance may be needed, especially for the kids costume. Turn it on and the costume will fill up with air. You'll need to keep the fan running throughout use, otherwise the costume will deflates. Lastly add your mitten-like dino claws for the final touch.
Differences between the Kid and Adult Costumes:
The costume is available in both kid and adult sizes and there are some features between the two that differ. The face of the kids costume is completely open and just fits tightly to the head like putting up the hood of a jacket. We did find that if you've got a kid with a larger head, you might want to size up though because it can be a tight fit. This was the case for us when testing the 5-7 size seen in the video with a five-year-old boy and a five-year-old girl.
With the adult costume, your full body is completely encased in the costume. It feels kind of like wearing a spacesuit, in which there is a clear plastic window to look through.
Once fully inflated, you'll basically take on the life of a T-Rex. Aside from the sizing issues on the kids' costume, this is a super comfortable costume to wear. You obviously have a ton of room within the costume so it's not constricting at all and the 100-percent polyester material is surprisingly a lot more durable than it might appear at first glance. You can easily play, chase, and scare others in this costume. Using your short arms and sitting down, however, can be a bit more challenging-but still possible. It can get hot if you run around a lot in the costume due to the heavy material and because all the air is just circulating inside.
It's pretty apparent from anyone's reaction that puts this costume on, it delivers maximum fun and entertainment for all. While you'd typically associate this type of costume with Halloween, it's proven to be a year-round viral sensation. There is a reason it pops up everywhere all year.
The Jurassic World Tyrannosaurus Rex Inflatable Costume is from Rubies. The costume is one size fits most. Sizing is as follows:
A kids costume is also available in a version with sound effects built into the gloves.
Four AA batteries are required to operate the fan. Rubies suggests removing the batteries when not in use.
Due to lack of air flow in the gloves, your hands may get sweaty.
When inflated, the Jurassic World Tyrannosaurus Rex Inflatable Kids Costume is roughly 58-inches tall and 18-inches wide. The tail is 34-inches long and the head is 18-by-10-inches.
The costume is spot-clean only.
