Chomp, stomp, and roar with the new Jurassic World Thrash 'N Throw Tyrannosaurus Rex from Mattel. Gearing up for the latest film in the franchise, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom coming out this summer, Mattel has created this interactive dinosaur to act out all your favorite T-Rex packed moments from the films. Take this dino back to the beginning in the very first Jurassic Park, and the infamous Jeep attack scene all the way up to the latest film (or at least what we've scene from the trailers where T-Rex once again reigns supreme destroying another smaller dino that's about to attack Owen, Chris Pratt's character). If you've got some action figures, you can also have T-Rex take a chomp out of them, too, and thrash them around.
Have T-Rex stomp around and a button on its foot will activate lots of stomping sound effects. Pull down on its tail to make her roar. Quickly move the tail up and down to take a bite out of anything in her path. The T Rex is also articulated at the tiny arms and feet. This dino also features a thrashing effect you can see as she moves, roars, and bites down, which add a bit of realism. Kids can also open and extend its jaw on their own, but don't worry she won't really bite.
The Jurassic World Thrash 'n Throw Tyrannosaurus Rex is roughly 22 inches long by 8 inches tall.
We love the action-packed interactions kids can do with this dinosaur, which taps into all the motions and sound effects you'd want out of a dinosaur toy (stomping, biting down on prey/enemies, and then thrashing and throwing any remains to the side). The scale of this dinosaur also makes it perfect for roleplay, giving kids the feel that this dinosaur is truly the top dino of the food chain when paired with other Jurassic World dinosaur action figures in the line.
In addition, there is a lot of solid detailing and differentiation that's gone into this Jurassic World figure, making it equally appealing for older fans and collections.
The Jurassic World Thrash 'N Throw Tyrannosaurus Rex is from Mattel and it's for ages 4 and up. It will appeal to Jurassic World fans as well as kids that simply love dinosaurs thanks to all its interactive features and scale.
Younger kids may need some assistance on figuring out the quick up and down motion of the tail to activate the chomp effect.
The Thrash & Throw feature works best with the action figures in the line, which allows the T-Rex to get a good grip on the figure and actually thrash and throw it. We tried the effect, as seen in our review, on smaller dinos in the line (as well as with other types of action figures) and the effect didn't work as well. You can, however, see it demo'ed in our Toy Fair 2018 coverage here.
Kids can also learn more about their dino by downloading the Jurassic Facts app, which will be available to download on iOS and Android devices. The app is free to download but some activities may require in-app purchases.
