Thomas & Friends Wood Gordon Review (Mattel)

Thomas & Friends Wood Gordon
What It Is

The Thomas & Friends Wooden Railway engines have gotten a makeover to better reflect the "wooden" part of the Wooden Railway line, and you can see it in engines such as the Thomas & Friends Wood Gordon. With more exposed wood and a stylish contemporary pattern, Gordon still features the same look that kids have come to know and love, but in a fresh new way. This toy train engine comes with Gordon's tender that attaches to the front or back of Gordon thanks to magnets. Coal is painted on the top of the tender, and it even has a textured feel to it.

Additional trains in the line include Aquarium Cars, Merlin the Invisible, Flynn, Annie & Clarabel, Yong Bao, Spencer, Stephen, Emily, Hiro, Caitlin, James, and Candy Cars. Each set includes two train cars. The train engines come with a tender. The pieces attach via magnets on the front and back, and kids can connect trains from different sets to mix and match or create a very long train. Some of the train cars have moving pieces or removable figures.

Each train set is sold separately.

Is It Fun?

Parents and grandparents will definitely like the more classic wooden look of these Thomas & Friends trains. But even though they're a little different, they still have the same familiar colors and friendly faces of kids' favorite Thomas characters. And they still work with the Thomas & Friends Wooden Railway train sets, sold separately, so kids can either pretend to drive these trains around on their own or send them all over their train tracks for lots of imaginative play.
