OVERALL EDITOR'S RATING:
What It Is

The My First Crayola Mess-Free Touch Lights set is part of the My First Crayola line of arts and crafts activity toys for toddlers, which offers a dose of creative play coupled with a bit of built-in developmental play. This kit falls into the Stage 2 Doodle category of the line, which encourages tactile hands-on play and exploration through creative play.

The Mess-Free Touch-Lights kit is a jumbo gel tablet with some added interactive features. The self-contained gel surface of the board feels like finger painting for toddlers, just without the mess. To add to the fun though, the board has light-up features and music. Kids can choose to light up their creations with 12 different background lights. Simply hit the big button at the center of the board to shuffle through the light shows.

Flip the switch on the board to also add music as kids play, or simply play without their added feature. The tablet also has chunky grips along the sides so kids can easily grasp the board and carry it with them.

Is It Fun?

This set offers kids a lot of on-the-go creative play. We like how they give the feel of finger painting without the mess and the added music and lights also encourage exploration and discovery.

Who It’s For

The My First Crayola Mess-Free Touch Lights set is for ages 2  (24 months) and up from Crayola. This is the type of kit that will appeal to parents seeking both a mess-free way to encourage creativity for their toddler as well as a tactile toy that gets kids working on their fine motor skills. Crayola's Stage 2 Doodle category of product is designed to allow toddlers to make their mark while learning to gain a bit more control over their creations, i.e. create rough shapes, lines, etc.

What To Be Aware Of

Three AA batteries are required and they are not included.

An early version of this item contained a stylus. This version does not come with a stylus, focusing more on the finger/tactile aspect of the toy.
