OVERALL EDITOR'S RATING:
What It Is

Barbie fans can play hairstylist to Barbie with the Barbie Color Surprise doll from Mattel. It allows kids to change the color of Barbie's hair from pretty pastel shades to bolder, brighter hues simply by using ice cold water. There are two Barbie dolls to choose from - a Caucasian Barbie, and an African American Barbie. Both are dressed in purple galaxy print mini dresses with silver necklaces, and silver platform shoes. Their long hair is a great length for styling. A spray bottle, brush, four stencils, a stencil tool, three elastics, and two barrettes are also included. With the included bottle, simply spray ice water onto her hair to make it bright pink, teal, and purple. You can also use the hair stencils, and stencil tool to create designs like stars and zig zags. Barbie's hair can also be styled with the brush, and hair accessories to create unique looks. Recommended for ages 5 and up, it was designed for hair play, and imaginative play.

What To Be Aware Of

A Caucasian Barbie, and an African American Barbie Color Surprise are available from Mattel. Each is sold separately. The doll in this video came with bright hair so we used warm water to change it to the lighter pastel tones. To make it bright again, simply add ice water. The water must be extremely cold to be effective. Use the included bottle to spray ice water onto the doll's hair with or without the stencils and stencil tool.
