The Real Cooking Princess Cakes Deluxe Baking Set from Skyrocket Toys allows kids - with the help of an adult - to bake, and decorate their own mini Princess-shaped cakes. It comes with almost all the tools needed including a specialty pan, roller, cutters, cake stand, and rolling mat plus cake mix, fondant mix, sprinkles, and step-by-step instructions. A few additional ingredients, and cooking equipment like milk, eggs, water, cooking spray, a bowl, a whisk, and an oven are also necessary but you're likely to have these at home. The set also comes with two princess toppers for the cakes but it is designed to make one cake at a time since there's only one stand included. The instructions were very easy to follow, and the cake itself was simple to make, and easy to assemble. The trickier part of this project is the fondant, which is used for the princesses' skirts. The process of making the skirt involves mixing, kneading, rolling it out, and cutting it with the pattern cutters. An adult will most likely need to help drape the fondant over the cake, and sculpt it. Kids can then help decorate it with leaves or bows, and the included sprinkles. Recommended for ages 6 and up, this is a fun baking project for an adult and child to do together, and a great rainy day activity for princess fans.
This is a fun baking project for an adult and child to do together. The instructions are easy to follow, and almost all the tools and ingredients are included for two cakes. Any items not included are common household items that you'll most likely already have on hand at home. The three layer cake is easy to make. The skirt is trickier if you've never worked with fondant before. That said, kids will probably find the princess skirts fun to make even if they do not come out looking as perfectly as the ones seen on the packaging. The sprinkles will appeal to kids who enjoy all things sweet, and sparkly. The dolls in this set are well made and make the final product look very nice. The cake also tastes good! This would make a great rainy day activity for princess fans, and beginner bakers.

If you've never worked with fondant before, creating the skirts may be a bit difficult. We found we needed to add a bit more water than the instructions called for but too much water will ruin it. Our final cake did not come out nearly as perfect as the picture on the box but it was still a lot of fun to make.
The ingredients in the cake mix and fondant, along with nutritional information, can be found on the back of the box.
