Infrared Control Battle Spacebot Review (Sharper Image)

Infrared Control Battle Spacebot
What It Is

The Battle Spacebot, from Sharper Image, is recommended for ages 6+. It requires 2 AAA batteries, not included, and a cell battery which is included. Turn your Spacebot on and then use the infrared control to operate it. The Spacebot can move forward, and spin around. It does much better on flat surfaces than on carpet or other uneven floors. I remember entering my first Sharper Image store in the 80s. My childhood mind was blown - it felt to me like I had entered the future. If it was still the 1980s, this Battle Spacebot would impress me. But now it seems to pale in comparison to other space-themed toys and remotely controlled products. The movements are limited and boring. The only lights is the illuminated chest-plate, and there are no sounds. The arms are advertised as "poseable for punching action," but it feels more like a swivel than a pose, and the punch packs little wallop. I like robots, I like space toys but I do not like the Battle Spacebot. Sorry, robot, you're cute, but space is not the place, for you.

Is It Fun?
No, its movements are limited and boring.
