Magic Mermaid Shell Art Review (Cra-Z-Art)

Magic Mermaid Shell Art
What It Is

Take the trend of painting rocks, add some shimmer and sparkle and a little bit of mermaid magic and you've got the Shimmer 'n Sparkle Magic Mermaid Shell Art kit. This comes with the tools kids need to paint their shimmering seashells.

The first thing you do is paint the seashells white. This covers up any natural shell color showing through your paint colors. Once that dries, you can start painting color on your shells. Do fun designs and mix the paint colors to create new ones. It's all up to you. Once the paint dries, decorate the shells with the adhesive gems.

You can, of course, keep the shells for yourself to display in your room, give them to a friend, or hide them out in the world (with adult supervision) so that someone else can find them and get a shimmery, sparkly surprise.

Is It Fun?

This kit takes the fun of rock painting and puts it on seashells. And kids aren't limited to just painting the shells in the kit. Brought shells home from your beach vacation? Paint those, too! This will inspire a lot of creative play as kids decorate shells to display in their rooms, commemorate a vacation, or share a little bit of magic with someone else.

Who It’s For

The Shimmer 'n Sparkle Magic Mermaid Shell Art kit is for crafty kids ages 8 and up who like to paint and get creative, and who love collecting seashells at the beach.

What To Be Aware Of

The kit comes with eight assorted shells, a sheet of gem stickers, a pearl sticker, a pearl sticker strip, an acrylic gem strip, eight assorted paints, one white paint container, two brushes, a dotting tool, and instructions.

You'll want to cover your work surface with newspaper or an old tablecloth before you begin. You'll also need a few cups of water so you can rinse your paintbrushes in between colors, and paper towels for drying off your paintbrushes. The instructions say it might also be helpful to have some aluminum foil, a thick board, or something else flat to use as a paint palette for mixing colors.
