Build your own version of a battling robot just like on the BattleBots TV show with the VEX Robotics BattleBots Construct Minotaur kit. This comes with more than 345 snap-together pieces for building the battling robot as seen on the show. It has a working chain drive that operates its spinning drum, and all you have to do is push it forward and backward to activate the robot's signature battle function.
For kids (or adults) who enjoy watching the show and building construction sets, this will be a fun way to bring the battling action from the TV show to life. You can sort of see the chain drive in motion as you push the model back and forth, which gives kids a nice visual of the engineering behind what they've built and how it works. This is a nice hands-on introduction to some STEM concepts, even though it doesn't go very in-depth into what those concepts are. And, of course, if you really want to do battle, you'll need a second BattleBot, sold separately.
The VEX Robotics BattleBots Construct Minotaur is for ages 8 to 16, and will be fun for fans of the BattleBots TV show and those who like building construction sets.
On a scale of one to five, this is rated as a level five difficulty for building. It took us one hour and 30 minutes to build. The instructions were easy to follow, but a younger child may still want adult assistance.
The VEX Robotics BattleBots Tombstone kit is also available and sold separately.
