Kamigami Robots Musubi Review (Mattel)

Kamigami Robots Musubi
What It Is

Build a bug bot and battle it! That's the premise behind the new toy line Kamigami Robots. Kids simply fold and snap together flat sheets of durable plastic pieces to create 3-D bug robots, including Musubi, a blue and purple insect with a curved tail.

Once built, you open up the free Kamigami Robots app and program a whole sequence of movement, lights, and sounds for the robot under the Code section. It's as easy as choosing the action you want, dragging and dropping it where you want it, and then pressing "run code" to watch Musubi perform the sequence.

You can also use the app as a remote control via the Run section or make Musubi dance in the Dance section.

And if you have a friend with a Kamigami Robot, you can play Tag or Battle, using the app as the remote.

As you play with your robot and the app, you'll unlock achievements, which can be viewed in the section marked by the trophy.

Is It Fun?

It is easy to control and fun to play with this build-it-yourself robot, and kids will like that they can program it to do different things, drive it around like they would any R/C toy, or battle with a friend. This will be a fun and satisfying DIY robotics kit that also introduces some basic STEM concepts for any kid with an interest in robotic toys and construction toys.
