Moonlite Storytime Projector Starter Pack Review (Spin Master)

Moonlite Storytime Projector Starter Pack
What It Is

Tell bedtime stories in a whole new light with the Moonlite Storytime Projector Starter Pack. This little device attaches to your smartphone and uses your smartphone's flashlight to project storybook images onto any surface. The images come from circular reels that you slide into the Moonlite device. You read along through the free Moonlite companion app, manually turning the reel to move to the next image and swiping the screen to move to the next page. The app plays music and sound effects as you read.

The device clips onto your phone, and to protect your phone's screen, the clip is padded.

The Starter Pack comes with two storybook reels, one for SAGO Mini On Vacation and two reels for the classic book Goodnight Moon written by Margaret Wise Brown and illustrated by Clement Hurd. Additional story reels are sold separately.

Is It Fun?

This is a unique new way to read bedtime stories with your child. Kids will like seeing the images from the stories projected on their bedroom wall, almost like they're watching a movie, and the music and sound effects from the app just adds a bit more magic to the storytelling. While this will be fun to use at home, it would also be an easy way to bring along favorite bedtime stories when traveling.

Who It’s For

This is not age-graded because it's really not a toy, and it says so right on the box. It's a product that adults use with children. That said, adults can use this to read to their kids, whether those kids are babies, toddlers, preschoolers, and above. It would be a great way to bring favorite bedtime stories on the go.

What To Be Aware Of

The Moonlite device and app is compatible with most Android and iOS devices. There is a list of supported devices on the Moonlite website, however, we tested this out with an LG G6 phone, which was not on the list of supported devices, and it worked just fine.

The Moonlite app is a free download in the App Store and Google Play.

Additional story reels include The Ugly Duckling, Where is Baby's Belly Button? by Karen Katz, and Sweet Dreams Lullaby by Betsy Snyder. Each is sold separately.
