OVERALL EDITOR'S RATING:
What It Is

Since 2014, Mattel has been casting Star Wars characters as different versions of Hot Wheels cars, and with Star Wars: The Last Jedi speeding into theaters later this year, a new batch of vehicles have been released.

The packages are basic carded blister packs that'll stand and can stack. Each showcases artwork of the featured character, along with both a Star Wars logo and a separate callout that says, "From the New Film Star Wars: The Last Jedi." The back of the cards feature one-line character descriptions that transitions into how the character is a car...or something.

Once open, the cars are classic 1:64 scale Hot Wheels cars and can work interchangeable with any Hot Wheels Track set. These cars are a good mix of characters introduced in The Force Awakens and brand-new additions to the films, including Rey.

Jedi Training Rey is based on an outfit Rey wears in the trailer, with the hood of the car taking the coloring of her shirt, and the remainder of the vehicle taking on the rest of her outfit. The doors feature lightsaber handles, with the bottom of the hilt reaching the front of the car as headlights, which is a nice touch.

Is It Fun?

While some who are unfamiliar with the line may think that Hot Wheels and Star Wars are an odd mix, there's something uniquely fun about them.

Who It’s For

With an age grading of 3 and up, this is a great line for everyone from kids to adult collectors.

What To Be Aware Of
