Race and play with your favorite Cars 3 characters with the Disney/Pixar Cars 3 Ready to Race Lightning McQueen. This has three play modes and 15 activities. It sort of looks like the dashboard of a racecar mixed with a pit stop station. There is a Lightning McQueen car in the center that spins around, an LCD screen, and a steering wheel and other controls for using the toy.
Turn the ignition switch to turn on the toy. It has two volume settings. Then slide the mode selector to choose between the three play modes. In Racers mode, kids turn the character selector to pick one of five characters and then complete different picture puzzles. The characters include Miss Fritter, Junior Moon, Lightning McQueen, Cruz Ramirez, and Jackson Storm.
In Pit Stop mode, turn the character selector to play a different game with each character. Lightning McQueen's game is Sticker Fixer, and kids must find the matching half of the sticker. Kids practice memory and visual skills with Jackson Storm, and fill in missing letters to spell words with Miss Fritter. The Cruz Ramirez game is all about sequencing, while the Junior Moon game is about counting.
And then there is Race Time mode. Turn the character selector to choose a race, and then help Lightning McQueen prepare by choosing the correct accessory to add to the Lightning McQueen car. Once you're done, race Lightning using the steering wheel and the accelerator, and try to avoid obstacles along the track. When the bar in the upper left corner of the screen fills up, press the Turbo button on the control panel for a boost of speed.
Outside of the Race Time mode, kids can press any of the three control panel buttons to hear radio sounds, Lightning McQueen phrases, and engine sounds.
There is storage for the four accessories on either side of the toy.
There are a wide variety of activities in this toy, which will keep preschoolers engaged in a lot of play. They'll like playing different games with some of their favorite characters from Cars 3 and racing with Lightning McQueen. After all, racing is what the Cars franchise is all about!
This is also a fun way to get kids practicing letter recognition, counting, problem solving, and logic and memory skills.
Ready to Race Lightning McQueen is for ages 3 to 6. Cars 3 fans will like interacting with their favorite characters from the movie through the different activities in this toy.
This comes with two AA batteries that power the in-store try-me features, so we recommend replacing them before they play for best results.
The Race Time mode and Racers mode icons in the instructions are switched, so it was a little confusing for us when we first started playing and nothing was matching up.
