OVERALL EDITOR'S RATING:
What It Is

With the release of toys for Star Wars: The Last Jedi now hitting stores, the kid and collector favorite LEGO Star Wars Line is getting many releases, including this new ultimate BB-8. Everyone's favorite rolling droid comes to life in this constructible configuration featuring 1,016 pieces.

After being built, which takes about 2 hours, there's a lot to love in this oversized LEGO droid. He'll look good on display, and you'll be able to reposition him in multiple ways, keeping you engaged with the set, while allowing for several different looks.

First, BB-8's head can move, thanks to a dial on his side, allowing you to position his head however you want. And, while the head tilts slightly, it's kind of what you'd expect from this bulbous droid. This set also offers added versatility because another dial opens BB-8's tool bay. It's a side disk on the unit and it holds an arc welder, which seems to be standard equipment for an astromech droid.

BB-8 also comes with a display stand that provides information about the character, as well as space for a minifigure version of himself.

One thing to note, while this is Star Wars and LEGO, this set is part of the Ultimate series and is intended for ages 10 years and up.

Is It Fun?

LEGO designed this droid with a lot of different features to ensure that this BB-8 construction set will offer a lot of fun, even after it's built. Beyond the construction itself, BB-8's moving head, as well as his opening and closing tool bay will keep kids entertained, while collectors will love the droid's look.

Who It’s For
This version of BB-8 is designed for advanced LEGO builders who can construct a model with multiple moving parts. LEGO Star Wars collectors and Star Wars: The Last Jedi collectors also won't want to miss this set.
What To Be Aware Of

One thing to note, while this is Star Wars and LEGO, this set is part of the Ultimate series and is intended for ages 10 years and up and younger builders may find it challenging to complete.
