OVERALL EDITOR'S RATING:
What It Is

Doctor Dreadful is cooking up some real goodies in Doctor Dreadful's Zombie Lab. This set makes over 40 creepy treats that Look gross and taste great. Recommended for 5 years and up this colorful or ghoul-i-ful play set is full of messy fun.

The set includes a Zombie head, a brain and stand, plastic tweezers, worm mold, monocle mold, stir stick and scoop, measuring cup, syringe, and 6 packages of candy and drink mixes including Brain mix, Brain activator, Skin mix, Bug mix, Barf mix part 1 and part 2. The instructions are very specific on how each concoction is to be made. For successful creepy treats, note that some recipes require refrigeration, or wax paper, and warm or cold water for mixing. Because different recipes will have you injecting a goo to create spiders or worms, or making delicious brains and edible zombie flesh, or brewing up some drinkable barf, you'll want to make sure that your young lab assistant is set up in an area where leaks and spills can be easily cleaned up. Nutritional facts can be found on the back of the box. Wash all parts before you start and read directions carefully. Some assembly is required in putting the head together, but it is simple and takes less than a few minutes.

Is It Fun?

This set makes over 40 creepy treats that look gross and taste like fruity treats. Kids will find mixing and tasting are part of the fun, as well as watching for certain reactions such as when the brain foams and overflows with goop. 6 packages of candy and drink mixes are included. They are Brain mix, Brain activator, Skin mix, Bug mix, Barf mix part 1 and part 2, so there is plenty of extra mixes for many repeats of these sticky experiments.

Who It’s For

Kids who like mixing potions and enjoy a messy candy making toy will really dig making all the different experiments. This is also for the parents who don't mind cleaning up and that their kids will be ingesting sugary concoctions.

What To Be Aware Of

The instructions are VERY specific on how each concoction is to be made so your child may need assistance in each experiment. For successful creepy treats, note that some recipes require refrigeration, or wax paper, and warm or cold water for mixing. Because different recipes will have you injecting a goo to create spiders or worms, or making delicious brains and edible zombie flesh, or brewing up some drinkable barf, you'll want to make sure that you and your young lab assistant are set up in an area where leaks and spills can be easily cleaned up. Cleaning the play set will require warm water to remove the excess sticky fun. This is for parents who don't mind cleaning up and that their kids will be ingesting sugary concoctions.
