EDITOR'S REVIEW
OVERALL EDITOR'S RATING:
What It Is

The Little Tikes Light 'n Go 3-in-1 Sports Zone is an electronic sports center with lights, and sounds designed for toddlers and preschoolers 1-3 years old. Sports include basketball, soccer, and bowling with balls included for each one. There are three modes of play to choose from: Learn mode, which introduces colors, numbers and shapes, Move mode with lights and sounds to encourage movement, and Games, which instructs a child to follow directions as they play, and score. To get started, choose from one of two volume settings on the back, and choose a play mode. There are many different ways to play. For example, kids can play basketball in learn mode, and throw the ball into the hoop, which is adjustable, then listen as the sports center counts to ten baskets. The backboard lights up and features music and sounds. While it worked most of the time, we made a few baskets that the toy did not recognize. For bowling in games mode, follow the directions, and knock down the pins, then press the shape buttons to reset them. We found both the pins, and the buttons to get stuck at times. For soccer in learning mode, try to make five goals.

Is It Fun?

The lights, and sounds make this toy fun and exciting but overall we wish it were better designed. The concept is great, as it's a fun way to introduce toddlers and preschoolers to the sports of basketball, soccer, and bowling. A ball is included for each sport. With three modes of play, there are many ways to use this toy, and some of the modes introduce colors, numbers, and shapes, while all the modes encourage movement. Unfortunately, the design is lacking in quality. We had issues with the basket recognizing when a ball went through the hoop, the bowling pins and buttons getting stuck, and the plastic soccer net popping out.

Who It’s For

The Little Tikes Light 'n Go 3-in-1 Sports Zone is for toddlers, and preschoolers ages 1-3 years old. It offers a way to introduce toddlers to basketball, bowling, and soccer.

What To Be Aware Of

Some assembly is required, and we found it easy to do in just five minutes. It also folds up for easy storage. Three AA batteries are required but not included. To play, choose from one of two volume settings on the back, and choose a play mode. We had some issues with our toy that may be frustrating to a child. When playing basketball, there were a few times we made baskets that the toy did not recognize. While bowling, we found both the pins, and the buttons to get stuck at times. You also need to roll the ball pretty hard to move the pins. The plastic soccer net on ours was not very secure, and pops out when the ball is kicked too hard. While the Sports Center offers a fun way to introduce toddlers to these three sports, we wish it were better designed.
