Now preschoolers have two ways to play with the 2-in-1 LeapTop Touch, which transforms from laptop to touchscreen tablet by simply swiveling the screen.
Open it up as a laptop to find 10 number buttons, 26 letter buttons, a Silly button, and a Paw button. Pressing the Silly button just causes silly sounds to play. Pressing the letters and numbers will play the names of the letters and numbers, plus more information and different animations depending on whether or not the child is playing in Letters or Numbers mode.
You can select the modes by sliding the mode selector underneath the LCD screen. In Messages mode, kids will receive "emails" from Scout and Violet, and can send messages back to the pups by typing a message and pressing the Paw button. In Games mode, kids press a letter to hear about an animal that starts with that letter. And then they are shown a portion of an animal picture and must guess what the animal is and press the letter the animal starts with to reveal more of the picture. And in Music mode, press the Paw button to play music.
You can play all of these same modes when the LeapTop is a tablet, but there will be different gameplay. In Letters mode, kids pop bubbles on the screen to reveal letters and pictures. In Numbers mode, kids tap the screen to count balloons. They tap emoticons to reply to Violet and Scout in Messages mode, tap the screen to brush Violet in Games mode, and tap music notes to keep the music playing in Music mode.
Parents can also enter a parent mode to personalize the toy with their child's name so that in both laptop and tablet modes, the child will be prompted to learn to spell his or her name.
This packs a lot of fun activities for a toy that is so compact and easy to take on the go. There are many different ways to play in tablet and laptop mode, giving kids different learning and play experiences to keep them engaged. And preschoolers are really going to like that this can transform from laptop to tablet, especially if they have parents with a product that can do the same thing. (Little kids always want the cool gadgets their parents have.) It's a cute way to give kids that "feeling big" experience but in an age-appropriate way.
The 2-in-1 LeapTop Touch Pink is for ages 2 and up. This is a fun way to help preschoolers with letters and numbers, including spelling their own name, while also giving them a cool tablet-to-laptop gadget just like mom and dad's.
The toy includes three AA batteries for the in-store try-me features, so it's recommended that you replace them before you play for best results.
The toy has two levels of volume.
This is also available in a green version, sold separately.
