Scattergories, from Hasbro Gaming, is for 2-6 players, ages 12+. The game comes with 6 folders, an answer pad, 48 category cards, a timer and instructions. You'll need pens or pencils, not included. Scattergories has been entertaining gamers since 1988, and has not changed all that much over the years. The gameplay is very simple - roll the big 20-sided die, call out the letter facing up, and then list words that begin with that letter. When the timer runs out, players take turns reading their lists, and score one point for any answer that no other opponents have also listed. Add your totals from the two rounds, and the player with the most points wins. Scattergories is great for game night, or the dorm room. There's good reason that Scattergories has been so popular for almost 30 years - the rules are simple, the gameplay is challenging, and the results are hilarious.
Alphabet enthusiasts should note that the 20-sided die does not include the letters Q, U, V, X, Y and Z.
