Jewelry Collection Floating Charm Locket Review (Make It Real)

Jewelry Collection Floating Charm Locket
What It Is

The new Make It Real Floating Charm Locket kit is part of the new Make It Real craft line. This DIY jewelry kit taps into the trendy look of customized floating charm lockets (think: jewelry lines like Origami Owl). This kit comes with all the supplies you need to start creating your own charm locket, plus matching accessories like two types of bracelets. It includes faux suede lace, beads, thread in various colors, jump rings, and a pendant with accessories to put inside. What you will still need though is a ruler, scissors, and tape to hold your jewelry in place.

It took us a little more than an hour to complete this necklace. The directions were easy to follow although we definitely suggest utilizing your ruler to ensure proper distance between beads and wraps. It also helps once you've completed one side of work to use the other side as a reference and compare lengths to ensure a consistent look.

A Dream Guide is also included. With a magazine-like design, here kids can find out stories from real-world jewelry designers as well as help build their confidence in these types of creative fields, which according to the guide are still underrepresented across industries from fashion to architecture to interior design to advertising.

Is It Fun?

Our favorite part was adding the charms to our pendant. This is where we think girls can really customize the necklace a bit more to fit their personality, and even add some of their own pieces to the pendant to really make it their own.

We also liked the Dream Guide, which acts as a bit of an inspiration tool for today's girls.

Who It’s For

The Make It Real Floating Charm Locket Kit is for ages 8 and up. It will appeal to kids that like to craft and create, especially when it comes to jewelry.

What To Be Aware Of

It took us a little more than an hour to complete this necklace. Craft time will vary depending on the type of piece you are making and your skill level.
