My First Take Along Set Review (Brio)

My First Take Along Set
What It Is
All aboard a child's very first wooden train set! This is My First Take Along Set from Brio. Using elements of the classic Brio Wooden train system, first introduced nearly 60 years ago, this elegant set is perfect for kids 18 months and up. As with all the Brio trains, the cars connect with magnets embedded into the toy so they won't come out. (Incidentally, the magnets are designed so the two cars always connect no matter which way they're put together.) The two cars in the set include a colorful engine and a car with a jingle bell. It includes two pieces of the classic Brio track, two end pieces and, of course, this beautiful carrying case. There are seven pieces in all. Open the case up, connect the tracks, and you've got a perfect play area for toddlers. Everything fits inside the case which has plenty of space for a few extra pieces, sold separately and has a carry handle, so kids can take the pieces along. The set also integrates with other sets in the Brio My First Railway series.
Is It Fun?
The simplicity of the play will keep kids engaged and imagining, as the move the cars around the track. Plus, we really like the classic, gorgeous design, age-appropriate play. All Brio toys, puts the kids' imagination at the forefront of the play experience.
Who It’s For
The set is recommended by Brio for kids ages 18 months and up. It's great for kids who like the basic play and it's a good starter set for simple play as kids create stories about the trains in action.
What To Be Aware Of
Other pieces in the system are sold separately. While this is called a My First system, it integrates with Brio trains and could be handy for older kids who want to take a small amount of pieces with them on a trip, for example. The magnets connect at either end and are securely integrated into the toy. Over time, kids will want to add other pieces to create a more elaborate system, especially as they get a little older and are able to work the trains and build out tracks.
