EDITOR'S REVIEW
OVERALL EDITOR'S RATING:
What It Is

This updated version of LeapFrog's LeapStart learning system is for kids ages 2-7 years old. It's an interactive device designed to help build key skills, both for school and for life with content available for all skill levels. Concepts include math, reading, and writing as well as problem solving, critical thinking, communication, and creative expression. A stylus used with the device unlocks audio content throughout over 25 activity books, which will need to purchased separately. The books have over 30 activities each including puzzles, games, and mazes. The stylus reads invisible dots on every page of the books, which trigger questions, challenges, songs, and even jokes. The stylus itself has been redesigned to promote a proper writing grip. The 2017 LeapStart program features LeapFrog's acclaimed Learn to Read series, as well as activity books with Trolls, PJ Masks, and Paw Patrol. This is a kid friendly learning system with a lot of options that grows with your child from the earliest learning to 1st grade. All the activities were designed with two levels so that kids can play and learn at the right level, and move up when they're ready. The device is white, green, and blue, and features a handle. Two AA batteries are required but not included.

Is It Fun?

Both educational and fun, the LeapStart learning system has a library of over 25 compatible activity books to choose from. They range in skill level from preschool to 1st grade. You do need to purchase the books separately to use the system. With content from math, reading, and writing to problem solving, critical thinking, communication, and creative expression, there is so much to choose from and to learn. It's easy to activate by touching the pages with the stylus. The latest books available include LeapFrog's acclaimed Learn to Read series, as well as hot preschool properties like Trolls, PJ Masks, and Paw Patrol. It grows with your child, and each activity has two levels to choose from. The activities are also replayable for kids to play again and again. The device is great for use at home or when traveling.
