The Theremin Electronics Kit, from Microkits, comes with 24 parts, is recommended for ages 10+, and took about 20 minutes to assemble. It requires 3 AA batteries, not included. For the unfamiliar, the Theremin is a musical instrument controlled without physical contact. Basically, move your hands through the electric fields near the two wires: one controls volume and the other controls pitch. Invented nearly 100 years ago, the Theremin can be heard in many classic Sci-Fi and Horror films, as well as in pop music hits like The Beach Boys' Good Vibrations. With Microkits, you learn a whole lot about sound, science and electronics, while building a very cool Theremin.
Amateur scientists, hobbyists, and anyone interested in music or sound - recommended ages is 10+.
