OVERALL EDITOR'S RATING:
What It Is

Whether you loved the thrill of rathtars chasing Rey, Finn, Han and Chewie or hated the use of CGI and felt the scene was little more than filler, the LEGO set 75180, based on this action scene, is fun.

Featuring 836 pieces, you can build Han Solo, Chewbacca, the ambiguously motivated Bala-Tik, two Guavian Security Soldiers, two rathtars and three sections of Han's freighter.

Thanks to very clear instructions, the build time was about two hours, with minimal mistakes. And, what once complete, the set offers a lot of play value due to opening and closing blast doors and a trapdoor that lets minifigures hide, just like Rey and Finn did during that scene.

Another fun feature is that Chewbacca's bowcaster, as well as Bala-Tik's and the Guavian soldiers' blasters all fire red LEGO studs (similar to red blaster fire). This adds to the action when recreating this battle scene, although the clear red pieces that shoot off are very likely to get lost.

Unfortunately, this set doesn't come with Rey, Finn, BB-8 or any Kanjiklub minifigures. Since they were integral to the scene, it feels like a miss, but with five minifigures already included, the trade-off makes sense.

Is It Fun?
There's a lot to love in this set! Beyond the easy construction and unique design, LEGO packs in the play value. Just like in the film, you can open a door to allow the rathtars to roam free and minifigures can hide in passages below the ship's deck (accessible through a secret hatch that can be opened and closed with a lever).

Who It’s For

This is a great set for anyone who loves Star Wars: The Force Awakens or LEGO construction sets. Also, anyone who likes building unique buildings and creatures will life the design of opening and closing freighter doors, as well as the rathtar design.

What To Be Aware Of
This set doesn't come with minifigures for Rey, Finn or BB-8, so you'll have to buy additional LEGO sets to accurately recreate the movie scene.
