Compete to see who can make the silliest Mad Libs with Mad Libs: The Game. In this game, players must pick word cards to fill in a given sentence. Each player starts with seven word cards. A sentence card is revealed and read aloud. All players choose cards from their hands to fill in the blanks in the sentence. When everyone is ready, players take turns reading the sentence with their chosen words filled in. Then everyone votes and whoever gets the most votes wins that sentence card and gets a point for that round. (You can’t vote for yourself.) The game continues until someone gets three points.
In between rounds, the used word cards are discarded and everyone draws back to seven cards. Before redrawing, you can choose to discard any other cards from your hand that you want to replace.
There are also a few blank word cards for adding in your own words.
With the original Mad Libs, the fun is in giving words (adjective, noun, etc.) without knowing how they’ll end up being used, creating some pretty silly sentences. So this game is sort of like backwards Mad Libs. It still has the potential to be silly because you can only use the seven words in your hand to fill in the blanks, but you’re not going to get the traditional Mad Libs play from this game.
That said, this game has the same type of feel as an Apples to Apples, so if you’re a Mad Libs fan and you like playing Apples to Apples-type games, then this one will make a nice addition to your next game night.
