What It Is
Young minds will really get moving with the K'NEX Education STEM Explorations Vehicles building set. This comes with 131 pieces for building a variety of different vehicles and then experimenting with each model to explore energy transfer, velocity and acceleration, and the impact of design on performance. Using K'NEX rods and connectors, along with rubber bands and spring motors, kids can build a Short Rubber Band Racer, a Three Wheel Spring Racer, a Rolling Racer, a Spring Racer, a Mass Holder Spring Racer, a Mass Holder Rubber Band Racer, and a Wind Racer. Each model can only be built one at a time. Each set of experiments requires additional materials that you probably already have at home, such as cardboard, books, measuring tape, masking tape, and paper. And once these materials are added to the finished model, kids then read a series of questions to help them explore, observe, and test the performance of each model under given circumstances.
Is It Fun?
For kids who enjoy building construction sets, this gives them multiple ways to build vehicles that really work, and then take off their construction hats and put on their scientist hats to really delve deeper into how the vehicles work. This is a great introductory set in the K'NEX Education line that helps kids explore science and engineering concepts in a fun and hands-on way.
Who It’s For
The K'NEX Education STEM Explorations Vehicles building set is for ages 8 and up. It's a nice hands-on introduction to STEM concepts for kids who enjoy playing with construction toys.
