Transformers The Last Knight Optimus Prime Voice Changer Helmet Review (Hasbro)

What It Is

The Optimums Prime Premier Edition Voice Changer Helmet from Hasbro is part of the new line of toys based on the movie Transformers: The Last Knight, aka Transformers 5. This big helmet takes 3 double-A batteries, which are not included, to power the 21 sounds and phrases that are built in.

Designed for kids ages 6 and up, the helmet has adjustable straps that allow you to customize this to the wearer so it will stay securely in place during play.

Once it's on, then you're ready to rule the world--or at least take on the Decepticons. The helmet has three buttons on the right side: one for phrases from the movie, one for sound effects and a voice changer. The voice changer works quite well for one of these toys, and it's definitely helped by taking the time to ensure that the helmet fits correctly so that the wearer's mouth is positioned right by the microphone.

The detailing is outstanding, too, and  it is and the excellent expression of the character right out of the movie. In fact, the only problem with see with this is getting your little Autubots to transform back into kids when playtime is done. That's how comfortable and well-designed this is.

Is It Fun?

This is easily the best character helmet yet from Hasbro. From ease of assembly, stable construction and comfort, this one is definitely worth the money and will keep young Autobots actively engaged in imaginative role play.

While the helmet is primarily designed for kids, adult fans will like it, too, and it's a major step forward in design from some previous character helmets for other characters from Hasbro. Specifically, we really like that it envelopes the whole head but with open space at the back to facilitate movement--and prevent kids from feeling too enclosed in the helmet.

We were impressed with the way this went together--and stays together. It opens easily, too, for installing or changing the batteries.
Who It’s For
This is for Transformers fans ages 6 and up who want to feel like they've really become Optimus Prime.

What To Be Aware Of
Adjusting the helmet might take a little trial and error, and an adult may have to help smaller children, but the time is totally worth it. Particularly for adults, you'll want to adjust it so it covers the whole face.

The only problem with see with this is getting your little Autubots to transform back into kids when playtime is done.
