EDITOR'S REVIEW
OVERALL EDITOR'S RATING:
What It Is
The Finding Dory See Search game from Spin Master is a 2-4 player game for kids to find hidden images of favorite movie characters on the game board. It includes four Diver Masks, six Interlocking Game Boards, 24 Cards, and an Instruction Guide. Each player gets a dive mask designed to uncover the hidden pictures. Players take turns flipping over Seashell cards with Finding Dory characters on them. Once the card is flipped and the character is revealed, all players race to find the image of that character on the board using their mask. The first player to find the image, keeps the card, and the first player to collect three cards, wins the game. We love the concept of this game but unfortunately the execution is not nearly as good. The goggles must be placed flat on the board and facing the same direction as the outlines of the masks pictured on the board to see any hidden images. And even then, they are extremely difficult to see. We found it frustrating as adults so our guess is that many 3 year olds may find it impossible. Kids may enjoy putting together the game board puzzle, and looking at favorite characters on the cards.
Is It Fun?
The concept of this game is very cool but unfortunately the execution is not nearly as good. The goggles must be placed flat on the board and facing the same direction as the outlines of the masks pictured on the board to see any hidden images. And even then, they are extremely difficult to see. We found it frustrating as adults so our guess is that many 3 year old may find it impossible. Kids may enjoy putting together the game board puzzle, looking at favorite characters on the cards, and even playing with the masks but the actual game play will probably not be the winner here.
Who It’s For
The Finding Dory See Search game is for 2-4 players ages 3 years old and up. It will appeal to fans of Finding Dory who are familiar with the characters.
What To Be Aware Of
In order to find the hidden images, the masks must be positioned perfectly with the masks placed flat on the board facing the same direction as the outlines of the masks pictured on the board. We found it difficult to find the images so preschoolers and even older children may get frustrated playing this game.
