Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Micro Mutants Raph's Rooftop Review (Playmate Toys)

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Micro Mutants Raph's Rooftop
What It Is

Raphael is more than just a hero in a halfshell. He's a playset in a halfshell with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Micro Mutants Raph's Rooftop playset. The playset comes folded up to look like a pet turtle with Raphael's red mask. But open it up to reveal a rooftop scene on which the one-inch figures of Raphael and Dogpound can battle. Raphael comes with two sai swords.

The playset has a lifting and lowering jail cell for capturing the villains. There's also a lookout tower on the top and a slide-out platform on which the cannon can be attached. The cannon comes with two projectiles, and you simply pull back on the lever and release to fire them one at a time. You can also place the cannon on the sewer lid base or on one of the playset's rotating platforms. There are five rotating platforms, and each one can hold a figure. Turn the three-pegged dial back and forth to rotate the platforms and make it look like the figures are fighting.

The playset also has two ladders, a slide, and an extendable tunnel to connect it to other Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Micro Mutants playsets, sold separately.

Is It Fun?
This turtle may be small but it packs a lot of action into one playset. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles fans will really like the cool look of the playset folded up, which itself offers to engage kids in some imaginative roleplay, but they'll also like creating battles between Raphael and Dogpound when they unfold the playset. The turning battle platforms are a nice touch and make it easy for kids to make the small figures fight. This will engage TMNT fans in a lot of open-ended, narrative-based play.
Who It’s For
The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Micro Mutants Raph's Rooftop is for ages 4 and up, and will be fun for imaginative kids who like the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. They can play with the playset folded up as a pet turtle or unfold it to engage in lots of open-ended, narrative-based play.
What To Be Aware Of

Not all of the parts fit inside the folded-up playset. We managed to fit the two figures, Raphael's weapons, and the sewer lid base inside, but the jail cell, pipe, cannon, and projectiles are too big to fit, so you might want to keep those pieces secure in a plastic zip-top bag and label it so you know what they go with.

Additional Micro Mutants playsets include Donnie's Lab, Leo's Dojo, and Mikey's Skate Park. Each is sold separately.
